Floaters

 < Back to Eye Examination

Many people complain of seeing small spots or floaters in front of their eyes. They can be noticed at any age but seem to become more numerous in later life. Often described as 'Strings of pearls' or like Cobwebs or Flies of different shapes and sizes, they are occasionally accompanied by flashes of light. YOU ALWAYS NEED TO GET YOUR EYES EXAMINED IF YOU EXPERIENCE THESE AS IT MAY BE SOMETHING MORE SERIOUS.

The photographs here show the effect of the shaddows the floaters cause as they move inside the eye. The area underneath doesn't see hence the dark spot. If you move the eye around they then move onto a different part.
